About My Work: CV
Julia Bowes

I have been an artist for over 20 years.  When I embarked on the exciting challenge of working with ceramics I began to explore different methods.  I love every part of the process and have built up a collection of wheel thrown and hand built pieces, using both traditional methods of creating and glazing, and the Japanese art of Raku firing.

I just love the element of jeopardy involved with creating each unique piece of work.  I'm always impatient to lift the lid of my kiln to expose the final pieces in all their glory.  Many of my Raku pieces are left as they are first thrown, so they are very tactile and organic.  Others have been polished to give a smoother surface.

I am very happy to take on commission work if you cannot find exactly what you are looking for.  I love to work with my clients to create a piece of work  that has been inspired by both our ideas.

Keep a regular eye on this website because I am always adding new pieces.

My name is Julia Bowes and I work from my home studio in an
idillic village near Marlborough,  Wiltshire.
